-Cold Storage Facilities

Already installed a mobile cold storage plant at Walaipadu in Mulativu district. The business activities will be commenced in near future.

It has been planed to installed another mobile cold storage in Punagari at Kilinochchi district.

-Purchasing centers

The CFC Management planned to commence purchasing centers in Multativu and Kilinochchi district in near future.

Paliyagoda Fish Market Complex

The Paliyagoda Central Fish Market Complex (PCFMC) is located six Km. away from the former St. Johns market Colombo. Construction of the complex was started in 2007 in conformity with the Mahindana Chinthana Policies of improving the fishing industry and providing fish products at a reasonable rates to the consumers. The new complex was built at a cost of Rs.3.8 billion on a 3.17 hectare marsh land along the main Katunayake Airport express road. The Government and Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided the funds.

The market has following facilities;

• 148 whole sale stalls
• 126 retail stalls
• A 25 MT ice factory (flake ice)
• Three cold storages
• Water purifying plant
• A large space is available to park 500 vehicles at a time
• Banking facilities (Bank of Ceylon & Commercial Bank)
• Shopping complex
• Post offices
• A restaurant
• Quality control room
• Police post

The Fisheries Corporation will administer the new complex and the Corporation will also ensure that the consumer is not cheated and fish is sold at this market at reasonable and affordable prices. The Corporation signed an agreement with the Power Asia International Company in regard of establishing the car park.
